About Lanterndeck
How Lanterndeck’s pages and readings are made
Lanterndeck is for entertainment and self-reflection. This page explains exactly how a reading is put together, what the AI does and doesn’t do, how our reference pages are written, and how to tell us when something is wrong.
How a reading is made
Your question is checked first, before any card is drawn. If it sounds like you might be in distress, there’s no reading: Lanterndeck pauses and shows ways to reach someone now. If it asks about health, pregnancy, money, investments or legal matters, we say plainly that the cards can’t help with that, point you to the kind of person who can, and offer a reflective reading instead. That wording is written by people and never generated.
The cards are then drawn at random, in your browser, from the full deck of 78, with about one card in three reversed. The AI never chooses a card, a position or an orientation.
Each card’s meaning comes from our fixed card library. Our AI provider writes the reading: it connects each card’s meaning to its position and to your question, then reads them together. Each card’s library line is shown word for word beside its paragraph, so you can see where the reading came from.
If the AI is unavailable, readings pause. We never show a stand-in reading, and you never pay for a reading that wasn’t written.
Dreams and palms
Dreams are checked the same way before they’re read. The interpretation quotes your own words and reads them through the lens you choose, psychological or symbolic. It never predicts anything.
Palm photos are read on your device to trace the four main lines; the photo isn’t uploaded or kept. Only a short description of the lines (for example, “a wide arc”) is used to write the reading. Palm readings never mention lifespan or health.
How our reference pages are written
Our card meanings, palm-line pages, dream-symbol pages and guides are written with the help of AI. Each one is checked against its sources (our fixed card library, traditional palmistry, and two common ways of reading dreams) and against the same rules as the readings: no predictions, nothing about health, lifespan or pregnancy, and a plain word on what each tradition can’t tell you. Each page says when it was first published and last revised, and links back here.
Card meanings follow the tradition most modern tarot readers use, rewritten in plain words. Palm and dream pages follow traditional palmistry and two common ways of reading dreams. We’re careful to say what each tradition claims, and what it can’t tell you.
Lanterndeck’s deck, Pencil, is our own: original art made for Lanterndeck, not a copy of any commercial deck.
What we don’t do
We don’t predict the future, and we don’t read health, pregnancy, lifespan, money or legal outcomes into cards, dreams or palms. We don’t use fake urgency, hidden renewals or “unlock what he really feels” offers.
Your questions aren’t used to train AI. What you keep stays in your browser unless you choose otherwise; privacy has the details.
Corrections
Every reference page has a “Report an error on this page” link. Tell us what looks wrong and we’ll check it, fix it if we agree, and update the page’s revised date.
Our data
