Where your notebook lives

Where it’s kept

Your notebook is stored in this browser, on this device. If you’d like it elsewhere too, export it, or keep it in a free account so you can open it on another device (see Accounts). It stays only in this browser until you choose otherwise.

When you keep a page, the whole page is kept: your question and cards, the reading, its follow-ups and their answers, a dream’s interpretation, and your own words. It’s kept in this browser, and in your account too if you keep your notebook there.

What leaves your device

When you ask for a reading, a dream interpretation or a follow-up, the words you send go to Lanterndeck’s server and to our AI provider so the reading can be written. The server doesn’t store them, and they aren’t used to train AI. Your journal is never sold and never shown to anyone. The “keeps coming back” marks are counted on your device.

Private pages you write without asking for a reading are never sent anywhere, unless you keep your notebook in your account (see Accounts). Palm photos are read in your browser and never uploaded. For the short palm reading, only a few fixed words describing the traced lines go to Lanterndeck’s server and our AI provider; the line notes are kept only if you keep the page.

If you report a reading, we receive what kind of page it was, the reason you chose and any note you add. Never your question or the reading itself.

We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics: which page was opened (its address, without anything after a “?”), the page you came from, and your country, browser and type of device. It sets no cookies, keeps no profile of you and never sees what you type or keep. Pages opened inside the Lanterndeck app aren’t counted.

If what you type sounds like you’re in distress, the cards pause and nothing you typed is saved.

When you buy

Payments aren’t open yet. When they are: Dodo Payments sells deep readings and the year for us, as our merchant of record. It handles your payment details, email address and billing address under its own privacy policy. Lanterndeck receives the item, the price, and the card brand and last four digits (or the wallet you used). Never your question.

Export and delete

Download your notebook as plain text (dated pages you can read anywhere) or as data (to move elsewhere). Export is free on every plan. Delete one page from its own menu in your notebook, or everything below.

Nothing kept yet, so there’s nothing to export or delete.

Delete every page?

This deletes all 0 pages of your notebook in this browser: readings, dreams, lines and notes. It can’t be undone. Export first if you’d like a copy.

Receipts for anything you’ve bought stay, as proof of payment.

Accounts

An account is optional and free. Without one, everything above holds: your notebook and purchases stay in this browser.

What an account keeps

  • Your email address, to sign you in with an email link or Google. If you use Google, also the name and profile picture link Google shares when you sign in.
  • Your purchases: what you bought, the price, the receipt and the card brand and last four digits (or the wallet). Never your question.
  • Your notebook, only if you choose to keep it in your account: each page you keep, whole (your question and cards, the reading, its follow-ups and their answers, a dream’s interpretation, your own words, and its dates), plus the ids of pages you deleted, so they stay deleted on every device.

Where it’s kept

In Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore), in the United States. If you live elsewhere, your account is held in the United States.

What’s in your account is never used to train AI, never sold and never shown to anyone. Nothing is sent from your account to our AI provider: a reading only ever uses the words you send at that moment.

Export and delete with an account

  • Export works the same signed in: it downloads every page in your notebook.
  • In Settings, “Delete my account and notebook” deletes your account, your email address, every page in it and the copy of your purchases from our database, and the notebook in this browser. Other devices where your notebook is open remove their copy the next time Lanterndeck opens there.
  • “Keep it only in this browser” deletes the copy in our database and keeps the pages in your browsers.
  • Signing out signs you out on every device. The pages in this browser stay, unless you choose to remove them.
