Tarot · one card

Yes or no tarot: one card, and which way it leans

Ask something you could answer with a yes or a no, draw one card from the full deck, and see which way its mood leans, with the reason from the card library.

Short questions about your own next step work best. Nothing is saved unless you keep the page.

A deep reading on your own question: ten cards and a longer reading, $4.99 once. Nothing renews. About the deep reading

Three readings a day are free, one follow-up each. No sign-up.

How a yes or no tarot reading works

Your card
One card, drawn at random from all 78, shuffled where you can see it. You choose it from a face-down fan, or let the deck choose.
Its lean
Every card has a lean in Lanterndeck’s library: leans yes, leans no, or maybe, with a one-line reason. It’s the card’s mood, written down before you asked, so you can check it against the chart below.
Upright or reversed
About one card in three comes up reversed, and a reversed card has its own lean. Upright, 49 of the 78 cards lean yes, 14 lean no and 15 say maybe. Reversed, 1 leans yes, 46 lean no and 31 say maybe.
The question after
Which answer were you hoping for as the card turned? The note written for your question ends with something to sit with.

What yes or no tarot can’t answer

Yes or no questions are the ones most likely to ask for a prediction. Some of them deserve a real answer from a real person, and a card would only get in the way. So before any card is drawn, every question is read first. Questions about health, pregnancy, money decisions, legal outcomes or how long someone will live get a short note pointing to who can help, and a reflective question you could ask instead.

If you ask Am I pregnant? Yes or no, you’ll see this instead of cards:

The cards can’t answer pregnancy questions

No reading can tell you whether you are or will be pregnant. A doctor, midwife or fertility specialist can.

Who can help with this: a doctor, midwife or fertility specialist

A reflective reading instead: You could ask the cards something like: What support do I need around me right now?

Questions about what someone else will do (“Will he text me back?”) get a reading, but the note turns the question back to you: what you’re hoping for, and what is yours to do. And if a question sounds like you might be in danger, the cards pause and you’re shown people you can talk to, any time.

Questions about yes or no tarot

How does a yes or no tarot reading work?

You ask a question and draw one card at random from all 78. Every card in Lanterndeck’s library has a lean for each way up (yes, no or maybe) and a one-line reason. You see that lean and reason straight away, and then a short note written for your question.

Is a yes from the cards a real yes?

No. A lean is the card’s mood, not a prediction, and no card can promise how something will turn out. Notice which answer you were hoping for as the card turned: that is often the most useful part.

Does a reversed card mean no?

Often, but not always. A reversed card is read with its own reversed meaning, which has its own lean. In this library most cards lean yes upright and no or maybe reversed; the chart below shows every one.

Why only one card?

One card keeps the answer simple: a single mood to react to. For more to think about, three cards (past, present and future) are free too, and a deep reading lays ten cards in a Celtic Cross for $4.99 once.

Can I ask the same question again?

You can, but a second draw isn’t a second opinion: it’s another random card. If you keep asking until you get a yes, that tells you which answer you want, which is worth knowing.

Is it free and private?

Yes. Three readings a day are free, with no sign-up. Your question goes to Lanterndeck’s server and our AI provider to write the note; it isn’t stored on our server or used to train AI. A page you keep stays in this browser.

Readings are for entertainment and self-reflection. They don’t predict the future or replace advice from a professional.
